What traditions do you document with your family?
Several years ago, I started documenting my kiddos' letters to Santa. It was a fast easy way, to preserve some Christmas magic with my little ones regardless of age. I love doing flat-lays, where you lay out pre-selected objects or props, and photograph from above. I have several pieces of barn wood that I lay down near our slider. Each year I select different ornaments, wrapping paper, or Christmas decor to feature. I look for things of varying heights, textures, and ways to bring in some sparkle/lights.
After my kids have written their letters to Santa (highly recommend doing this with a dark marker, so the text stands out, I have them lay on their bellies with their letters in on the barn wood. They put their hands on their letters or hold an ornament while I snap photos from above them. For editing, I personally love adding overlays with glitter, bokeh lights, etc. to give it an over-the-top sparkly/holiday feel.
