Family and Motherhood Portraiture in the Greater-Lansing Area

Top 3 Reasons to work together if you desire

1. Your family's story to be told candidly, authentically, with an emphasis on details, connection, and fun!
2. To work with someone who gets your kiddos and makes them feel safe and comfortable. Mom of 3 here and former teacher! Bring me all the kiddos.
3. A photographer who engages in ongoing education in order to provide a luxury, individualized experience and art for your walls.

You belong here, just as you are.

Welcome, friends!

I’m Annie, and the face behind the camera of Annie Dunigan Photography. Wondering what makes my heart sing and is at the core of my purpose as a Lansing, Michigan-based family, motherhood, and product photographer? It is documenting the heart, the home, of your life or business; in other words, using light and composition to frame and highlight your connection to your loved ones while simultaneously freezing movement & details that work together to tell your unique story.

My own journey to and thru motherhood, the joys as well as the excruciating losses, have shaped me as an artist & a woman, and have taught me about the beauty in being vulnerable and sharing our true selves with those who embody our home.

It has led to my mission to especially get moms in front of the camera, to help women see that our beauty-our true essence-is in showing up authentically as ourselves. It is in shedding our inhibitions and the world’s ideas about how we should look or act and instead running towards our truth that we, as mothers and women, are enough in this moment. There is nothing more beautiful than capturing a woman boldly proclaiming this truth thru her interactions with her family.

I find inspiration everywhere. In the way the evening light creates shadows that dance across my living room, in the sound of my children’s thundering feet racing down the dock before disappearing momentarily beneath the still waters of a Michigan lake, in the lines and creases of my own mother’s hands as she brushes my daughter’s hair, and in the stillness and anticipation of a new day as I sip a cup of coffee in those quiet moments before the rest of the house comes awake.

I approach my storytelling with warmth, whimsy and a sense of wonder. As a result, my art is candid over posed, a mixture of movement & laughter, but also stillness and slowing down to savor being in this precise moment.  It is letting go of perfect hair and everyone looking at the camera and prioritizing staying in the moment, connected and grounded to your home-your people.

If you long to have your family’s story told in this way, if your heart quickens at embracing authenticity, the perfectly-imperfect, then let’s capture your family, those who are your home, in this way. Reach out and let’s start planing your experience!

My kids like to play the What If game, so let's play! What if you had to leave your home today (with your family) and could only bring one type of item with you-what would you take?

If you said, PHOTOS -those visual representation of your family's stories-

then bingo!

You are my kinda of people.

For many of us (myself included), our most priceless items are our photos, the heirlooms that embody home and allow us to transport back in time to a moment gone but not forgotten.

Below you will find some of my favorite stories featuring my own kiddos. When I said I wasn't afraid as a mom to embrace mess, I wasn't kidding. It's a toss up but probably the pillow fight session wins for the most epic mess (still finding feathers years later)!
